There is no flat rate. Carriers price your operation on the radius you run, the commodities you haul, the age and value of your equipment, how long your authority has been active, your drivers CDL and MVR history, and your loss runs. A new-authority owner-operator running regional dry van will not pay the same as a five-truck reefer fleet running coast to coast. Send us the details through the quote form and we will come back with real numbers from several carriers, not an estimate.
At minimum, FMCSA requires auto liability at $750,000, and in practice most brokers and shippers will not load you under $1,000,000. Beyond that, motor truck cargo of $100,000 is the usual expectation, and physical damage is required by any lender or lessor on the truck. We handle the filings so your authority goes active without a back-and-forth.
Same business day in almost every case, and usually within the hour during office hours. Send the broker or shipper details to your agent and we issue the COI directly to them.
Yes. New ventures are harder to place and cost more in the first year, but we work with carriers that specifically write new authorities. After twelve months of clean operation we re-market the account and in most cases the renewal comes back materially lower.
Primary liability covers you while you are under dispatch and hauling a load. Non-trucking liability, also called bobtail, covers the truck when it is being driven off dispatch - home from the terminal, to the shop, personal use. They are not interchangeable, and a motor carrier policy will not respond to an accident that happens off dispatch.
Yes. A broker contingent cargo policy protects the broker, not you, and it only responds after your own coverage. If the load is damaged and you have no cargo policy, the claim comes out of your pocket and the broker will stop tendering you freight.
Call +1 (730) 222-7777 at any hour, or email info@dmtins.com with the date, location, units involved and a police report number if there is one. We open the claim with the carrier and stay on the file with the adjuster until it is closed.
Most carriers we work with offer a down payment plus monthly instalments, and premium finance is available on larger accounts. We will show the payment options alongside the quote so you can see the real monthly cost before you bind.
